13 Reasons Why Not

Life is meant to be lived. Don't cut your life short, no matter what. You were born to live and to love. I don't know the entire story line of the latest show on Netflix called "13 Reasons Why," but I want to show you 13 reasons why you are important, why you should live and why God loves you.
I really enjoy the interaction Moses has with God in the Book of Moses. This interaction really helps us understand who we are, and what we mean to God. "Behold, thou art my son." Five simple words, but these five words tell us who we are. We are children of a loving Heavenly Father, He knows us, He has and is raising us. If you go on and finish reading the chapter you'll see just how amazing that is for you.
The fact that we are children of God also lets us know we are children, children who make mistakes and at times feel down about ourselves. We are all miracles, and if you don't believe that, you should read this amazing talk given by President Russell M. Nelson. He helps put into words my thoughts on life and just how amazing it is. Never forget that.
The other day I was watching the BBC show called Sherlock. Sherlock says the biggest truth about suicide.

"Taking your own life, interesting expression, taking it from who? Once it's over, it's not you who will miss it. Your own death is something that happens to everybody else. Your life is not your own. Keep your hands off it."

Suicide is the most selfish thing you could ever do. But sometimes it is those who are most close to someone who is suicidal who are also very selfish. A lot of times we aren't willing to ask the difficult questions or do the difficult things. There is a movement that has been started called #BeThe1To. This movement asks us all to do five things.

Now you may have noticed that I didn't actually give you 13 reasons why not. There are an endless number of reasons, you parents, your friends, and the list goes on and on. If you are ever down, I want you to look in the mirror and tell yourself something you love about yourself. Once you have done that I want you to tell someone how you are feeling, you never know, it might not be just your life being saved.
Suicide is not something to joke about, here are some resources to help you out.

5 Way to Show Our Love for God

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." All Christians have heard these verse of scriptures, but how many actually follow these two commandments? We should all know that Christ has said that "If ye love me, keep my commandments." So we should know how to follow the first great commandment, but how do we follow the second one? How do we love our neighbor? How do we love our neighbor when our neighbor doesn't love us? How do we love our neighbor when they believe in something we don't? I say in order for us to love our neighbor we must learn how to follow the second part of the second greatest commandment. Let's look at it another time, "Tho...

A Bible, a Bible, we have no need for a Bible!

This day in age I hear about many people who say that we don't need to read or follow the teachings in the Bible anymore. These writings are old and dusty, and what benefit can we get from it? But I know that if we take the time to read and study this great book, we will gain a greater knowledge of what is required of us in this life, the joy of eternal life, and will be prepared for things which are to come. There are three main religions which take root from the Bible. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. These three religions cover more then half of the world's population. If the Bible influences more then half of all people, shouldn't we use it more? Here is a list of benefits of reading/studying the Bible: 1.   The testimony of the existence of God. 2.   The history of the beginnings of mankind as a divine race placed on the earth for eternal, divine purposes. 3.   The importance of establishing a covenant relationship with God. 4.   The history an...

To Make a Mistake or Not?

Today in institute the topic was Adam and Eve. It reminded me of a story on my mission. There was about 4 of us missionaries sitting at a Wendy's, enjoying our food, when one of the workers there came over to us, and started telling us how we are wrong about Eve, saying her church taught that Eve is one of the most evil people ever. She listened to the devil, she followed his words, and then in turn tempted Adam, and made him partake of the fruit as well. And Adam did no wrong in this incident. There are many different points of view on this topic, and the Bible doesn't have every single detail. I am grateful that we have been blessed with additional scripture to help us better understand God's ways, and the lives of those who lived before us. Once Adam and Eve were created by God, God gave them 2 main commandments, multiply and replenish the earth, and do not partake of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. We don't know how long they were in the garden of E...
