Mini Miracles

"There are only two ways to live your life, one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle!" -Albert Einstein
As we read the Bible we see these mighty miracles being performed. Moses parting the Red Sea, the walls of Jericho falling down, Jesus walking on water, a girl being raised from the dead, and the greatest miracle of all, Jesus Christ performing the atonement. I have always heard people ask, "Why aren't there any miracles these days?"
Has God stopped the work of miracles in these days? No, He has not! We have become blind to the higher things in life, we see these amazing acts performed by God, and we see them as naught. The rising of the sun, the sound of laughter, the smile on a child's face, and the feeling of being loved. How are these not miracles?
"Wonder of Wonder, Miracle of Miracle!" That is probably my favorite line from the movie "Fiddler on the Roof." I feel we are expecting these huge miracles to see, to convince us that God is there. But we forget to realize that this life is made of many little things. One of the greatest feelings I get is when someone shoots me a smile, or when I receive a great big hug!
One of my favorite songs says the following:
"A single thread in a tapestry
Through its color brightly shine
Can never see its purpose
In the pattern of the grand design

And the stone that sits on the very top
Of the mountain's mighty face
Does it think it's more important
Than the stones that form the base?

So how can you see what your life is worth
Or where your value lies?
You can never see through the eyes of man
You must look at your life

Look at your life through heaven's eyes
Lai-la-lai...

A lake of gold in the desert sand
Is less than a cool fresh spring
And to one lost sheep, a shepherd boy
Is greater than the richest king
If a man lose ev'rything he owns
Has he truly lost his worth?
Or is it the beginning
Of a new and brighter birth?

So how do you measure the worth of a man
In wealth or strength or size?
In how much he gained or how much he gave?
The answer will come
The answer will come to him who tries
To look at his life through heaven's eyes

And that's why we share all we have with you
Though there's little to be found
When all you've got is nothing
There's a lot to go around

No life can escape being blown about
By the winds of change and chance
And though you never know all the steps
You must learn to join the dance
You must learn to join the dance
Lai-la-lai...

So how do you judge what a man is worth
By what he builds or buys?
You can never see with your eyes on earth
Look through heaven's eyes
Look at your life
Look at your life
Look at your life through heaven's eyes"
Along with not being able to see these mini miracles around us, I feel we also forget to see how we fit into God's plan, there are many times we feel we are better then others, we feel like a mighty mountain while our neighbor is but a rough looking rock, perfect to skip into the sea. Then there are times where we feel we are "nothing."
I am here to tell you that we are all important to God, He loves each and everyone of us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. All callings are important, and are privileged to witness many great miracles.
I ask you all to "look through heaven's eyes" and she our worth to God, and see the many miracles God is continually raining down on us.

5 Way to Show Our Love for God

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." All Christians have heard these verse of scriptures, but how many actually follow these two commandments? We should all know that Christ has said that "If ye love me, keep my commandments." So we should know how to follow the first great commandment, but how do we follow the second one? How do we love our neighbor? How do we love our neighbor when our neighbor doesn't love us? How do we love our neighbor when they believe in something we don't? I say in order for us to love our neighbor we must learn how to follow the second part of the second greatest commandment. Let's look at it another time, "Tho...

How Did They Know?

Growing up in an LDS family was just like growing up in most non-LDS families. Sometimes we got along with our siblings, other times we wanted to kill them. Sometimes we loved our parents, other times we thought they were aliens from a different planet. One thing which made us stand out from the crowd is our weekly three-hour worship at church on Sundays. I always enjoyed going to church, I had a lot of friends there. During my teenage years, I noticed that something about church bugged me, something which now looking back I am so glad it bugged me. Once a month at church we have what is called a “testimony meeting.” For those who don’t know what that is, it is where anyone in the congregation can go up to the podium and share what they believe in. A lot of people use the term “I know this is true.” This line is what bugged me the most. How could anyone know if any of this is true? How could they know if the Book of Mormon is true? How could they know if Joseph Smith was a prop...

The Book of Mormon- Title and Intro

The Book of Mormon, it is my favorite book to read. I get so much out of it, especially a hope in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Today I read the Title Page and the Introduction. Both Help us to understand the role of the Book of Mormon, in our lives. There were a couple of things that really stood out to me. First on the Title Page it says the following: "Also[The Book of Mormon] to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations-And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgement-seat of Christ." I love that statement, because Jesus is the Savior of everyone, not just me or you, but all. And there may be mistakes in the Book of Mormon, in the Bible, and even college textbooks, but we aren't to let the mistakes of men get in the way of truth. In the Introduction it talks about the brief story line ...
